Youngsters lose in Cardiff

Watford went down 3-1 away to Cardiff City in an FA Premier League Under-18s fixture on Saturday morning.

The youngsters started the game poorly and found themselves three down inside the first 25 minutes.

Leaving themselves a mountain to climb they were unable to claw their way back into the game.

The Hornets managed to grab a consolation in the second half as Cardiff had all but won the game.

A Cardiff player ended up putting through his own net after a flick on but it couldn't spark any sort of comeback from the young 'Orns.

Alex Campana was once again captain for the game - he was one of three second second-year scholars alongside Marvin McCoy and John-Joe O'Toole.

However, they were unable to stop the Bluebirds from stamping their authority early on.

The defeat leaves the under-18s in fifth place in the league.

Watford: Beasant, McCoy, Bennett, O'Toole, Beech, Brown (Jenkins), Campana (c), Forbes, Henderson, Clarke (Maxwell), Morgan (Gibson)

The Academy are away to Bristol City next Saturday (March 3rd)
