Managers fighting talk

Managers fighting talk

Boothroyd said, 'I won't sit here and say we were great because we weren't. Ipswich were the better side for 85 minutes - which is a bit of a problem when you play for 90.

'I feel for Ipswich in many ways but we know what that's like. Numerous Premiership managers have said that to me. We took our chance at the end, we are in the next round and that's what counts.'

Boothroyd denies the two managers had clashed in the tunnel at half-time after O'Callaghan had been shown a red card for kicking out at Danny Shittu.

'That's not true. Do I look like I want to get involved with anybody at all? It gets intense, football, and sometimes voices are raised and things are said but we didn't get involved.

'Would you go for big Dan? Honestly, there is no truth in that.'

Magilton played down the alleged incident after allegations were made at him trying to unsettle Boothroyd.

He said: 'It was handbags at five paces, just that. A few words were exchanged, that was it. And not by me - I was in the dressing room.'
