Silva Hails Character & Richarlison
Head coach Marco Silva has hailed the character and spirit of Watford following the fightback against West Bromwich Albion.
Heading to The Hawthorns for Saturday's game, West Brom took a two goal lead inside of the opening 25 minutes of the first half, but a spirited response from Watford saw Abdoulaye Doucoure grab one back before the half time break, and continued pressure in the second half saw Richarlison level five minutes into stoppage time to salvage a point.
Speaking to the Official Site Silva certainly wasn't going to pretend it was a great result, but it certainly showed the spirit within the group to fightback in that manner and come the end, he felt had we nicked it the hosts couldn't have grumbled given our performance in the second period.
'I don't think it's a great result. We work to win every time. A draw is a good result after 2-0 down, but the way we played I think everyone in the stadium and everyone who watched on TV can see we deserved the result here.'
With a two goal mountain to climb, Silva went on to say that he felt we were the better side either side of the two goals, but it's something we need to improve on defensively.
'We started very well. Some moments our play was too slow but we played our game. They like for the other team to make mistakes to score and that's what happened, but we reacted very well. In the last 20 minutes of the first-half we scored and could have had one or two more. We were in command of the match in the second-half.'
'Sometimes they were defending with 10 men in the box. We should have scored before so we deserved to score at the end. It shows big character, big spirit and big personality that we believed until the end. We played with risks but everybody believed.'
Sky Sports also have Silva waxing lyrical about the 'amazing talent' that is Richarlison.
'He is a fantastic boy, an amazing talent. From the first day I arrived I said to the board that I want him, because I believe a lot in this player. You never know how he will react because this is another country, but everything he has done until now is amazing. His skills coming into the Premier League are very good.'
