Silva - Manchester City Is A Learning Curve

Watford head coach Marco Silva has said the heavy defeat to Manchester City has to serve as a learning curve for the Watford side.

Hosting Pep Guardiola's side at Vicarage Road for the game, Watford were on the end of a comprehensive six nil battering and Silva knew he had to hold his hands up as they were clearly the better side on the day.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media following the game, a clearly disappointed Silva knew all we could do was use it as a learning curve to improve ourselves.

He did however point out that two of the opening three goals were arguably offside and he felt we should've had a penalty for the foul on Nathaniel Chalobah but he knew inspite of that they were worthy winners.

'Of course it is not a good afternoon for us. But it is important we understand things in the first-half. First, City deserved the three points and started very strong in the first-half but the first goal was offside. The second goal we made a big mistake and the third goal is offside. This is true. The penalty we should have been awarded won`t change the result but it would give more confidence to us. We then lost our organisation on some moments. City would still win the game but it becomes more difficult when the referee and linesman makes mistakes.'

Silva wasn't going to whitewash Watford's performance either as it clearly wasn't good enough and the players had to look at themselves for that.

'It`s a good match for our team to learn at this level. We made some mistakes. City came here to play a strong match and they respected our team as they only make one change from the game against Feyenoord. You can suffer sometimes like this. We need to keep our focus and organisation every time. We need to look forward. We only lost three points and this is a good way to learn about playing with the same level and the same intensity every time.'

He went on to add.

'The first big chance to score was us. But it is not easy to talk about the first-half. We spoke during half-time, tried to get our players to react. We reacted well in the first minutes but then it became difficult and we lost our focus and organisation. It is difficult to play against teams like City. They are a very good team.'
