Silva - We Take The Cup Seriously
Head coach Marco Silva has said that Watford won't underestimate Bristol City when we face them in the second round of the EFL Cup later this evening.
This is the first cup tie of the season at Vicarage road and having started the Premier League campaign with a return of four points from a possible six, Silva knows we go into the tie in good confidence and his message was simple as he spoke to Sky Sports as he met with the media ahead of the game.
Watford are looking for the win and a cup run this year - however he did admit that fans would have to see how many changes he made to the squad as he looks to even out game time and the obvious one is a potential start for skipper Troy Deeney.
'We'll see, now is the moment to start the recovery with our players, and to take my decisions. First of all, I will respect Bristol City because that is my way, to respect everybody. If the players who played on Saturday don't seem in good condition then I will make the changes we need. But, I will see.'
Silva went on to say.
'We respect all the competitions and we play all the matches in every competition to win. This is our way. The next is for the cup and we play to win the match.'
Deeney is now back in training after recovering from his groin operation and Etiene Capoue and Will Hughes will also be hoping to get their first starts of the season.
The confirmed out list reads, Younes Kaboul, Daryl Janmaat, Roberto Pereyra, Tommie Hoban, Craig Cathcart and Mauro Zarate and they are all sidelined with injury.
