Silva Pleased With Options Ahead Of Bournemouth
Watford head coach Marco Silva has said he's pleased with the options he had available to him ahead of the game against Bournemouth this weekend.
Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media to preview the game, Silva confirmed that Troy Deeney had trained well this week after returning from injury and a late decision would be made on whether or not he comes into his thoughts for the game.
'We'll see. I will take the decision on the list Friday and then on Saturday I will take the decision for the XI. The player is able to work 100 per cent with the team and he's worked hard and tried to show his football to me. What I saw from him the last two days is what I expect.'
With competition up front also involving Andre Gray and Stefano Okaka, Silva went on to say.
'When everybody starts to come back it's good news. Deeney is one more solution, like Okaka and Andre. It's good for the team I'm sure. I want competition between them. I want players to come here to training with something to play for.'
With summer signing Gray making his debut last weekend as a substitute against Liverpool and having had a full week of training under his belt now, the gaffer said of him.
'He's worked with the team and knows better our ideas and what we need. Now I have to take the decision whether to start him.'
As for Okaka, who opened the scoring against Liverpool.
'He's worked hard the last few weeks. What I expect is for him to score but I believe a lot of other things are important, like working hard, and they know what I want. Scoring gives more confidence to the player and they feel in better condition. I am happy with what he did.'
