Silva Pleased With Options Ahead Of Liverpool

Watford head coach Marco Silva has said he's delighted to have a selection problem following our transfer dealings this summer ahead of the Liverpool Premier League kick off.

With plenty of new attacking potential at the club following the arrival of Richarlison from Fluminese and Andre Gray from Burnley in addition to the players already on our books, Silva told the Official Site in his pre game press conference yesterday, our gaffer explained.

'It`s a fantastic problem to have. This is the problem that every coach wants to have on his hands. I want to have this problem in other positions.'

As for Gray more specifically, he went on to add.

'He`s a good player. He`s a player who wanted to come here and improve his career. He will improve our roster. We did our homework on him and he`s a different type of player to Okaka and our captain (Deeney). What we need to do is prepare our attacks well to give more chances for him to score. The board knew my opinion about the player and then did the job of signing the player. I am happy with this signing.'

As for Richarlison, he went on to say.

'Richarlison again is a different player. Since we started, we look and analyse players to play on the sides. He can play three positions in the attack and is a young boy but a really talented player. He has the characteristics I feel we need.'

As for future transfer plans, he wouldn't be drawn on numbers but admitted he felt we still needed 'something'.

'It is not important how many more but we need to do something.'

With Troy Deeney's future seemingly in doubt, Silva went on to say he wanted him to stay but it was unlikely he would face Liverpool over to the minor groin surgery he had this summer as he isn't yet back in full training.

'He is our player, he is important to us, he is our captain. He is the one player I hope we keep. I want to keep him in the team. I don't have reasons to change our captain. He's our captain, like Ben Watson is our vice-captain, like Heurelho Gomes is our vice-captain as well, and I don' t have reasons to change anything in this situation.'

He went on to add.

'He is progressing well. He started not 100 per cent with the team but on Wednesday did part of the session with us and was part of the loop. In the next few days he will be ready to start full training.'
