Gray - I'm Ready For Watford Challenge
Former Burnley striker Andre Gray has been speaking about how he's relishing the challenge at Watford following his move.
Having come in yesterday from Burnley for a fee speculated to be £11million rising to around the £18million mark, the 26 year old signed a five year deal at Vicarage Road.
Speaking to the Hertfordshire Mercury as he met with the media following his signing, Gray said that after achieving his dream of playing in the Premier League and helping Burnley to survival, he felt he needed a new challenge and he was sold by Watford's aims for the year.
'It happened quite quickly and it was easy. Pretty much a no brainer. It's obviously a great club and it's got a big future. I had a fantastic time at Burnley and I achieved my dream of playing in the Premier League - we stayed up last season too.'
He went on to explain.
'I needed a new challenge. I felt like I'd done my job there in the two seasons. It's a fresh challenge; speaking to the club was something that excited me and made me want to come here. I feel like a new challenge came at the right time and there's no better place than Watford.'
With such a heavy transfer fee given he was playing non league football three odd seasons ago, Gray went on to say that he felt it was an inspiration that he could live up to and justify rather than it being a burden around his neck.
'Inspiration. Every player will tell you it's not down to them what the price is. It's down to me to justify that. I'm ready for the challenge ahead. I don't see it as a burden, it's an inspiration for me to prove my worth.'
