The 1881: Legends Flag Poll

The 1881: Legends Flag Poll

Vicarage Road's 'singing section' The 1881 have set up a poll on their website in order to finalise a group of nine Watford legends who will be depicted on a giant flag in time for next season.

The 1881 is a group of Hornets fans dedicated to reviving the electric and exciting atmosphere from days gone by at Watford games.

Set up in the summer of 2013, The 1881 are currently situated in the strip of Rookery seats closest to the newly-named Graham Taylor Stand (previously known as the Rous).

So far, several flags and banners have been created in order to help bring colour and excitement to Vicarage Road.

The 1881's latest venture is the creation of a giant flag measuring approximately 25x15 metres, portraying nine of Watford's most legendary figures.

In the interests of fairness and openness, and so that every fan can feel they have a hand in the making of this flag, there is a poll online at the1881.com, the group's website. In order to cast your vote, you will need to register on the site via the 'Forum' link.

Once you have done this, the poll can be found HERE.

In order to vote for your top nine, you must vote for each person individually, clicking 'vote' again once your first vote has registered. You may repeat this process only nine times, in order to stop multiple voting.

The candidates included on the list were chosen via a Facebook poll and suggestions made on Watford's most active fans' forum, wfcforums.com.

At the time of publishing, the front runners for the nine to be included on the giant flag are as follows:

Graham Taylor (143 votes), Luther Blissett (124 votes), Lloyd Doyley (94 votes), Sir Elton John (91 votes), John Barnes (86 votes), Tommy Mooney (79 votes), Heidar Helguson (73 votes), Nigel Gibbs (66 votes), Ross Jenkins (44 votes).

We urge all Vital Watford readers to get out and vote!
