Sannino: We grew during the game

Beppe Sannino says Watford 'grew during the game' after watching his side overcome a slow start to progress into the F.A Cup 4th round.

Goals from Davide Faraoni and Lewis McGugan did the damage as the Hornets beat League One strugglers Bristol City to set up a tie with either Manchester City or Blackburn Rovers, who meet tomorrow.

Speaking afterwards to The Watford Observer, Sannino said: 'Again we were slow in the first half and then we grew during the game. I would prefer it if we had more consistency in our performance but I am happy.

'This game showed me the kind of team I want - we played with character, good spirit and I think the fans enjoyed the night.'

Asked who he'd prefer in round four, Sannino said he had no preference: 'It doesn`t matter,' he said. 'For me it`s the same. It`s just important that Watford will be in that game.'

Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill said his side had come up just short and had their best chance of an upset at Ashton Gate in the original tie.

"We probably had our chance to knock them out in the first game. Maybe had we scored the chance early on it would`ve been a different game, but maybes are maybes,' Cotterill told the Robins' official site.

He continued: "They`ve got some really good players here, and it`s a credit to our boys because we came here and passed the ball well again, but when the second goal went in I just felt we lost our way a little bit.

"I`m disappointed for the players and I`m disappointed for the supporters, because it would`ve been a fantastic day for them to go to Manchester City or Blackburn - I know everyone would`ve been clamouring for Manchester City.'

Yes, great news. A real shot in the arm & his arrival gave both the crowd & the players a lift last night. Fingers crossed he gets through his first few weeks back unscathed!
