'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Team News: Watford v Reading

Fernando Forestieri and Daniel Pudil are fit to face Reading after recovering from knee and hamstring injuries respectively.

The pair are joined by new signing Alexander Merkel, who has been declared fully fit this week after joining on loan from Udinese.

There is even positive news on playmaker Almen Abdi, with Hornets' head of medical Marco Cesarini revealing that the Swiss has trained this week.

'There are some positives, for example, he trained with us today (Friday), but he also needs to build up his fitness so he is still out,' Cesarini told The Watford Observer.

Another new signing, Mathias Ranegie, will miss out though, with Cesarini confirming that the Swede is still working his way back to fitness from a hamstring problem.

It is hoped Ranegie could be available as soon as next week.

Promising young centre-half Tommie Hoban is another nearing a return to action.

Marco Cassetti (knee), Ikechi Anya (groin), Reece Brown (knee) and Essaid Belkalem (ankle) are all still out.

Reading skipper Jobi McAnuff is available once more following a foot injury and could come straight into Nigel Adkins' side.

Striker Nick Blackman faces a late fitness test, but there are still a number of key men missing for the depleted Royals.

Robson-Kanu, Sean Morrison, Chris Baird, Wayne Bridge, Jem Karacan, Mikele Leigertwood and striker Jason Roberts are all still out.
