'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Reaction: Watford v Millwall

Beppe Sannino says Watford must immediately focus on Sunday's game with Queens Park Rangers, after crushing hapless Millall on Boxing Day.

The Hornets marked the 56 year-old's first home game in charge with a resounding 4-0 victory over the Lions, who were on the book foot following Danny Shittu's dismissal inside 10 minutes.

Troy Deeney converted the resulting penalty to ease the nerves, and before the visitors could get any kind of foothold in the game, Fernando Forestieri doubled the lead.

Watford walloped the woodwork three times between their third - a stunner from Ikechi Anya - and the fourth - another penalty, this time scored by Lewis McGugan.

The result was the final straw for the Millwall board, who sacked manager Steve Lomas just a few hours after the final whistle.

Speaking to The Watford Observer, Sannino praised his side for taking full advantage of the early red card.

"As I said before, we had the chance to play 11 versus ten today and in this type of game, if you do not play with your head then you can have trouble,' explained Sannino.

"My players were fantastic because they were waiting for the right moment to go deep and score.'

Sannino continued: "I would like to enjoy this moment but I also need to forget this win because in three days we have to play again."

Former Millwall boss Lomas, speaking through the club's official Twitter account before his sacking, said that the club's supporters had been 'short-changed'.

'We owe the fans a performance and result at Doncaster because they were short changed again today,' said Lomas.

'We had to keep it tight after 1-0 but we didn't. Again, we were the masters of our own downfall.

'The goals we conceded again today were poor. I was looking for pride and passion and now we have to pick ourselves up.'
