Ashley Young has been voted as Watford`s player of the month for September by the readers of Vital Watford.
Vital Watford asked who Watford`s player of the month for September was and over half of voters opted for the England Under-21 international.
The month may have turned out to be a disappointment for the Hornets having lost to a 96th minute winner at Bolton after hitting the woodwork three times, drawing at home to Villa (although a draw with O`Neill`s unbeaten side doesn`t look too bad a result now) and a draw at Wigan meant that Watford only took two points from a possible nine during the month.
However, 21-year-old Ashley Young was Watford`s leading light in the month that Aidy
Boothroyd`s young side failed to get their first Premiership win under their belt. Young played all three of Watford`s games in September partnering Marlon King in attack, after Watford boss Aidy Boothroyd dropped the mis-firing Darius Henderson to the bench.
Although Young failed to get on the scoresheet in September (infact only Hameur Bouazza did) he was consistently the Hornets best player, questioning whether the winger-cum-attacker`s best position is on the flank or in attack.
Stevanage-born Young, a product of Watford`s youth Academy, made his England Under-21 debut when replacing Wayne Routledge in the 2-2 draw with Switzerland in Lucerne on September 6.
Young started October where he left off in September, scoring two goals and setting up another in Watford`s 3-3 draw with Fulham and coming on as a sub for the Under-21s in the 1-0 defeat of Germany on Friday.
