Watford 'Yellows' 3-1 Watford 'Whites'

A BRACE from Diego Fabbrini helped Watford's 'Yellows' to victory over Watford 'Whites' in the final match of the Hornets Italian tour.

The game was arranged due to a cancellation from anticipated opponents, OGC Nice.

Head Coach Gianfranco Zola split his squad up into two fairly even sides, with Lewis McGugan and Manuel Almunia getting their first run-outs of pre-season.

Fabbrini opened the scoring after 21 minutes, cutting in from the right and firing past the returning Almunia.

The Yellows' lead was doubled six minutes later when Daniel Pudil cut in from the left and found Troy Deeney who controlled, allowing Javier Acuna to finish.

The game lasted just 70 minutes with half-time called after 36 minutes after Whites' winger Jaime Romero hobbled off with a knock.

Carl Stewart, George Byers and Bernard Mensah came on at half time for Romero, Luke O'Nien and Acuna for the Yellows, whilst there were no changes for the Whites.

Within four minutes of the re-start, the Whites had one back when Almen Abdi slotted home from 12 yards after Pudil had brought down Ikechi Anya.

Trialist goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic got another run-out as a substitute, as did Alex Geijo, on for Fernando Forestieri for the Whites.

Fabbrini notched his second on the hour, finishing after Cristian Battocchio squared from the right.

Yellows: Bond (Wilks); Doyley, Angella, O`Nien (Byers); Faraoni, Murray, Pudil; Fabbrini, Battocchio; Acuna (Mensah) & Deeney.

Whites: Almunia (Dmitrovic - trialist); Smith, Brown (trialist), Cassetti; Anya, Hogg, Romero (Stewart); Abdi, McGugan; Assombalonga (Ikpeazu) & Forestieri (Geijo).

The players and staff will depart Italy today to return to England and pick up their pre-season preparations with a trip to Stevenage next Saturday.
