Yeates joins newly-promoted Bradford City

Yeates joins newly-promoted Bradford City

Released Watford midfielder Mark Yeates has joined League One new boys Bradford City on a two-year contract.

Yeates, 28, joins the Bantams after being freed by Watford at the end of June as his contract in WD18 expired.

The Dublin-born midfielder had been a regular in Gianfranco Zola's matchday XVIII last season, making 30 Championship appearances and scoring four times for the Golden Boys.

However, the former Sheffield United and Middlesbrough man was deemed surplus to requirements ahead of the new campaign and has since been re-united with his former manager at Colchester United and Hull City, Phil Parkinson.

Speaking to the official Bradford site, Yeates said of the move: I have taken a number of phone calls in the past few weeks from clubs since my departure from Watford, but I just get a good feeling from Bradford.'

Yeates continued: 'You can see that the club is progressing and anyone couldn't help but have noticed Bradford last season with the cup run and getting promoted into League 1.

'Bradford is a big club on the up, and the deciding factor for me was the manager.'

In two seasons at Vicarage Road Yeates made 66 league and cup appearances, scoring seven times in yellow.

Good luck, Mark!
