OFFICIAL: Ikpeazu capture confirmed

Reading striker Uche Ikpeazu has become Watford's first capture of the summer, signing a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee.

Ikpeazu, 18, had last night revealed via his Twitter that he had signed for the Hornets after joining the first team on their training camp in Italy.

Born in London but of Nigerian descent, Ikpeazu had an excellent season in front of goal for Reading's Under-18 side last season, scoring 28 goals in as Under-18 Barclays Premier League many games - including five hat-tricks.

That impressive goal tally made Ikpeazu the highest scoring player at Under-18 level anywhere in the country last term.

Highly thought of by the Reading coaching staff, the 6'3' Ikpeazu models his game on his idol, former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba.

During the 2011/12 season Ikpeazu went out on loan to Didcot Town, scoring twice, including a goal on his debut against Thatcham Town.

Speaking on the official site, Technical Director Gian Luca Nani said: "At 18 he is still young, but he`s a very bright prospect and we`re looking forward to seeing him progress under Gianfranco Zola."

Welcome to Watford, Uche.
