Almunia & Bond could both be fit for Leicester

Goalkeepers Manuel Almunia and Jonathan Bond could both be fit to face Leicester City in the play-offs, Gianfranco Zola has confirmed.

Almunia was withdrawn from the starting XI ahead of kick-off against Leeds United on Saturday after feeling a tightness in his hamstring, whilst Bond was withdrawn inside half an hour after a serious collision with teammate Ikechi Anya.

The 19 year-old Hemel Hempstead-born stopper was taken to hospital, but it has since been revealed that he suffered nothing more than a broken nose and concussion.

Bond could now face the Foxes with a protective mask, if he is declared as ready to return to action.

In the case of Almunia, who recently returned from a six-week absence due to a hamstring injury, the decision to withdraw the 35 year-old Spaniard before kick-off was a precautionary one.

Speaking to The Watford Observer, Zola provided an update on the duo.

'Almunia doesn`t look too bad and he may be fit for Leicester on Thursday. We are hopeful that he`ll be back.'

Zola continued:

'With Jonathan, if it is a broken nose so he should be OK. Nowadays you can play with protection so let`s hope it`s nothing more than that.'

Watford will be without striker Troy Deeney, however, after the 19-goal striker was sent-off for two bookable offences. Deeney will only miss the first leg of the semi-finals.
