'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Zola surprised by Hornets' performances

Watford Head Coach Gianfranco Zola praised his side after they recorded their second win in four days at Portman Road on Tuesday night.

After a 4-0 victory at Birmingham City on Saturday, Zola made three changes to the side for the trip to Suffolk - one enforced - and was rewarded with a second win of the week.

Ikechi Anya was on the scoresheet once more, opening the scoring after 18 minutes before Nathaniel Chalobah put some gloss on the result 18 minutes from time.

Speaking afterwards to The Watford Observer, Zola admitted he had been surprised by his side's performances this term.

'We really play well away from home and sometimes I am surprised by what these players are doing,' admitted the Italian.

'They are really performing at a level that is honestly unexpected considering that we are a young team that have just been assembled this year. They are doing things that make me very proud of them.'

Continued Zola:

"I am delighted because it was a tough game. On a Tuesday night, after a good game like Saturday, it is easy to slip up and fall, as you can see around us; good teams have lost tonight.'

Watford host Derby County this Saturday as the look to secure a maximum of nine points from a massive week.
