Zola: 'A point gained, not two points dropped'

Gianfranco Zola was keen to accentuate the positives from last night's result, saying his side had gained a point rather than dropping two.

Watford took a fourth-minute lead through Almen Abdi before Nathaniel Chalobah doubled that 10 minutes later.

Ian Holloway's side took over from that point onwards, getting one back after the break when Peter Ramage stabbed home, before Kevin Phillips tucked in from close-range to nab a point.

Speaking afterwards to the Official Watford Site, Zola noted his side's poor ball retention:

'Even when the pressure is on, I am usually very confident about the players keeping possession and calming the game down.

'Every time we tried to do a counter-attack we lost the ball and we don't normally do that.

Continued the Italian: 'Physically, Palace were stronger than us after half-time. They put us under a lot of pressure and we ended up defending with five instead of three on many occasions.'

Watford are in action at Birmingham City's St. Andrews next Saturday.
