Ekstrand withdrawn from Sweden squad

Defender Joel Ekstrand has withdrawn from Sweden's squad to face Argentina due to injury.

The 24 year-old had been in contention to win his second full Swedish cap before being withdrawn against Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.

Ekstrand, on-loan from Udinese, was replaced by the experienced Nyron Nosworthy with 12 minutes of Saturday's game remaining and it has since been revealed that Ekstrand suffered discomfort to his knee.

After suffering swelling to his knee, Ekstrand will undergo a scan today.

The Swedish Football Association have this morning confirmed the news with coach Erik Hamren calling-up Rasmus Bengtsson as Ekstrand's replacement.

His only other previous cap for Sweden was a friendly match against Syria in 2010.
