'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Zola heaps praise on prolific strike pair

Gianfranco Zola was full of praise for his dynamic duo as Matej Vydra and Troy Deeney shared three goals to fire Watford into fourth.

Vydra got things started after 17 minutes as he slid home after Deeney's hard-work down the right before the Czech turned provider for Deeney to nudge in a second before half-time.

With 20 minutes to play Vydra killed off any lingering Forest challenge when he raced onto Deeney's lofted pass to lob the onrushing Karl Darlow for sumptuous third.

Speaking afterwards to The Watford Observer, Zola praised his in-form front two:

"They combine very well, they really have an excellent understanding," stated the Hornet's Head Coach.

Vydra now has 18 npower Championship goals in just 16 starts - 10 in his last seven league games - whilst Deeney has helped himself to 12 from 23 appearances.

"If you see their movements, they are always dropping into midfield to make it difficult for the opposition to find spaces. That makes a difference for the team,' enthused Zola.

Watford return to npower Championship action this Tuesday night as they take on Bristol City at Ashton Gate in a re-arranged fixture.

With Barnsley vs. Millwall the only other fixture, Watford could, albeit briefly, go into second place.
