'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Zola hails 'mature' win over Huddersfield

Hornet's Head Coach Gianfranco Zola acknowledged a 'mature' performance from his side as they dispatched with struggling Huddersfield at the Vic'.

Zola also paid credit to the 100 or so Hornet's fans who came down to Vicarage Road hours before kick-off to clear snow off the pitch.

After a sluggish first-half which saw Troy Deeney's 45th minute penalty separate the two sides, Watford were rampant.

A brace from Matej Vydra gave Watford a commanding lead before a beautifully-crafted team goal, finished by Cristian Battocchio, wrapped up another convincing win.

Speaking afterwards to The Watford Observer, Zola praised his side's endeavours:

"I think we`ve played some better games than this but it was a mature game,' admitted Zola.

The Italian continued: 'I think the goal towards the end [of the first half] helped the team a lot because we then, in the second half, managed to play the football that we want to play.'

Zola also praised the efforts of those who helped clear the pitch this morning - a decision very much vindicated:

"I just found out that this morning, more than 100 supporters turned up here to help clear the pitch of the snow so I think they`ve been gifted with this performance and they deserved it."

Watford are in action at Nottingham Forest next Saturday.
