'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Forsyth determined to fight for Watford chance

Winger Craig Forsyth says he is determined to fight his way into Gianfranco Zola's thoughts but admits he could have to leave if he cannot break into the side.

The 23 year-old Scot has recently returned from a two-month loan spell with League Two Bradford City where he made six league and cup starts and two substitute appearances, scoring once.

A regular for the first-half of last season under Sean Dyche, Forsyth found himself out of the picture when Sean Murray came into the side and has subsequently made just two Capital One Cup appearances for Zola this side. The last of which ironically came against the Bantams in September.

Speaking to The Courier, Forsyth stated his intentions:

'I just need to accept where I am at the moment, not get too down and continue fighting for my place,' admitted Forsyth.

The former Dundee left-sider continued: "I want to be playing football and if I am not getting that opportunity, then I may have to look at my situation.

'There is no need to rush into making a decision, though. I will just have to keep my head down, work hard and hope to convince the manager I am deserving of a chance.'

Forsyth's record last season was fairly good for somebody who often found himself on the periphery, scoring three N.Power Championship goals from 15 starts, and posting an overall record of five league and cup goals from 18 starts for Dyche's side.

Having spent part of his career at left-back in Scotland, the Carnousite-born winger would certainly be another option at left wing-back, however Zola clearly does not see Forsyth as part of his plans for the future and one would expect him to be moved on either this window or next.
