Big Sam: Watford paid the price

Bolton boss Big Sam Allardyce praised Watford`s performance but said that they paid the price for not taking their goalscoring opportunities.

"I expected this type of game but expected us to cope better," said Allardyce.

"Watford are extremely good at what they do and should not consider changing their ways. They had opportunities to beat us but in the end paid the price.'

Speaking of the incident which led to Bolton`s 95th minute penalty Allardyce said: "Idan's (Tal) run was the most skilful bit of play all day as it helped give us three points."

Big Sam also praised Bolton`s hero of the day, veteran midfielder Gary Speed. "Gary took the penalty coolly. I am just glad Dioufy (El-Hadji Diouf) was not on the field as he would have tried to take it after missing one at Charlton," he explained.

"It was Gary who got us three points at Manchester City last season with a penalty and he has risen to the challenge again."
