Watford Football Club have confirmed that they have purchased the freehold of The Red Lion pub.
The pub - which is opposite the ground and is a favourite watering hole amongst the Vicarage Road faithful - will continued to be used for the same purpose for the time being, according to the club.
A club statement read: "We regard the pub as part of Watford's football community and we recognise its historic position in the area.
"We are committed to improving our fans' experience on match days. Opportunities such as this don't come around very often and when the pub came onto the market the club felt that it was opportune to acquire it."
