Iwelumo keen on January Magpies move

Hulking Hornet's forward Chris Iwelumo says that he would be keen to make his loan move to Notts County permanent, if possible.

The 34 year-old Scotland international moved to Notts County on an emergency loan deal on November 1 and has quickly established himself as a regular under Keith Curle.

Having made three appearances for his adopted club, the former Burnley targetman says he expects to leave Vicarage Road in the January transfer window in search of regular first-team action.

'I think I will probably be moving in January, permanently, so I have got to make sure I keep my head down and do what I can for Notts,' Iwelumo told The Football League Paper

'If I can deliver and something can get done then we will see what happens from there.

'My gut feeling is that there's not much there for me at Watford,' admitted Iwelumo, who has made three starts since joining the Magpies on-loan.

It's certainly fair to say that the experience forward is one of a number of players from the previous regime who served a purpose at the time, but now look to be well out of the picture.

At 34, a move away from WD18 would be in the best interests of Iwelumo who would surely be keen as a consummate pro' to squeeze every last drop of playing time out of the rest of his career.

Good luck to him, may not have scored as many as we wanted but his effort and hold up play can't be faulted
