'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Zola: 'We have to play for 90 plus minutes'

Gianfranco Zola pulled no punches in his post-match assessment, admitting that his side had only themselves to blame for only taking a point from Blackpool's Bloomfield Road.

Watford made the perfect start, going ahead after four minutes through Ikechi Anya.

Troy Deeney doubled the Hornet's lead in the 22nd and all looked rosy.

Michael Appleton's side pushed Zola's men hard in the second half, and after Kevin Phillips pulled one back, Isaiah Osbourne struck in extra-time to secure a point.

Speaking to watfordfc.com, Zola said of his side's inability to hold a lead:

"We have to play for 90 plus minutes, not 45 minutes,' stated Zola.

"I knew the game wasn`t finished, I was expecting something more in the second half - Blackpool came back stronger and I believe we lost too many balls in the midfield; they didn`t work as well as we normally do.'

In spite of his disappointment, the Italian reserved praise for how his side played during the first half.

"We played good football. Our midfielder and strikers were good and we broke well and scored two goals, plus had a few other chances.'

Watford have the chance to rectify the result almost immediately as they head to Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night.
