Zola: 'We could have scored more goals'

Watford took advantage of Leeds United's two-man disadvantage to record a crushing victory over Neil Warnock's side and climb to 12th in the process.

Gianfranco Zola took a 'gamble' and made five changes, introducing Connor Smith, Ikechi Anya, Mark Yeates, Alex Geijo and Matej Vydra for Jonathan Hogg, Daniel Pudil, Nathaniel Chalobah, Fernando Forestieri and Troy Deeney.

Vydra got the ball rolling in the 27th minute before defender Jason Pearce was rightly dismissed.

Warnock made his remaining two changes at half-time & the decision immediately cost the United gaffer as midfielder Rudolph Austin was withdrawn due to a broken leg, leaving the hosts with nine players.

Almen Abdi made it 2-0 in the 61st minute before Yeates, Vydra, Deeney & Sean Murray rounded off the win.

Speaking afterwards to The Watford Observer, Zola said his side could have scored even more:

'Our counter-attacking looked dangerous and we could have scored more goals,' stated Zola.

"We took a gamble in the first half because we made some changes to refresh the team and played Ikechi Anya, who is normally a more offensive player.

"Plus Matej Vydra up front and I thought that was the difference because whilst we took some risks at times.'

Watford are back at the Vic' next Saturday as they play host to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
