Gianfranco Zola was as honest as ever in his post-match reaction, admitting that his side didn't do enough to threaten Millwall, despite having the better chances.
The Hornets were slow coming into the game and it was only towards the end of the first half that Zola's side really got going.
In the second period Watford upped their game, but were still unable to seriously test Lions' goalkeeper David Forde.
Speaking to watfordfc.com afterwards, Zola credited Millwall for their organization.
'I have to give credit to Millwall tonight because I thought they were very well organized and kept their shape to stop us playing through them,' conceded Zola.
'We had the better chances, although we didn't create as many good situations as I would have hoped for during this game.
'I must say we were not as good as I expect from us in possession - especially in the first half when we did not play with a good tempo,' continued the head coach.
There were also positive words for full debutant Joel Ekstrand, who slotted in alongside Tommie Hoban and Lloyd Doyley for his full debut.
'Joel did fine; for me, he started a little slowly but got better and better and better as the game wore on,' stated Zola.
Watford head to Leeds United this coming Saturday, looking to extend their unbeaten start to November.
