Zola: 'Players showed they cared'

Watford recorded their second home victory of the season yesterday thanks to a 90th minute penalty from Matej Vydra, and head coach Gianfranco Zola couldn't have been happier.

The Hornets were made to work hard by the bottom of the league Peterborough United, but their endeavour paid off as Daniel Pudil was fouled in the 90th minute, leaving Vydra to wrap up the points from 12 yards.

Speaking to watfordfc.com afterwords, Zola couldn't hide his delight at a late winner:

'What I liked most is the players showing how much they cared, the way they put everything between the opponent and our goal,' stated Zola.

'Some of the blocks were great and probably typical of the back three. Tommie [Hoban] and Fitz [Hall] were great but I must say Lloyd [Doyley] was magnificent this afternoon.'

The Hornet's Head Coach also had words of praise for the penalty-scorer:

'That, for me, told me it was a penalty. And no, I never had any doubt about Matty [Vydra] scoring it. He is a finisher - and finishers score chances like penalties nearly every time.'

Watford head to south Wales on Tuesday as they take on Cardiff City, red kit and all.
