International Hornets prepare for action

International football kicks off again tonight with Tommie Hoban and the Republic of Ireland leading the way for the Hornets.

The Irish U19 captain and his compatriots take on Germany tonight in their final group match in qualifying for the U19 European Championships in Lithuania next summer.

Both sides have already qualified with the Republic of Ireland safely negotiating a group which included Macedonia and Luxembourg.

Hoban was on the scoresheet during a 5-2 win over Luexmbourg on Thursday, scoring the opener, and his first international goal, after 27 minutes.

Ireland followed that succes up with a 1-0 win over Macedonia to qualify for the 'Elite Qualification Stage' ahead of the Germany clash tonight.

Lee Hodson's Northern Ireland are busy preparing for their World Cup 2014 Qualifer tonight against Portugal at the Estadio Dragao.

Michael O'Neill's side face the Portuguese tomorrow evening, who will boast in their ranks captain Cristiano Ronaldo, set to win his 100th cap for his country.

The GAWA sit fourth in Group F with one point from their opening two matches.

Jamaica's Nyron Nosworthy will be in action for the Reggae Boyz tonight as they take on Antigua & Barbuda in their Group A CONCACAF qualifier.

Nosworthy was booked in Jamaica's 2-1 defeat by Guatemala on Wednesday, a result which leaves Jamaica third in their group with seven points from five - three points behind the USA and Guatemala themselves.

Matej Vydra was an unused substitute for the Czech Republic on Friday night as they huffed and puffed to a victory over Malta having fallen one behind.

The Czech's ran out 3-1 winners in the end in their Group B match and face Bulgaria this evening.

Bulgaria are second in their group, with the Czech Republic trailing them by one point after two games.

Finally, Cristian Battochio played 72 minutes for Italy's U20 side as they were beaten 4-1 by their German counterparts.

He managed a few minutes at Derby! The only player yet to appear one way or another since signing is Jean Alain Fanchone - I fully expect you to say 'who?!'
