Wealdstone draw on Non-league Day

Watford's non-league neighbors Wealdstone drew 2-2 on Non-league Day in front of a crowd of over 700.

With no Premier League or Championship action due to the international break, attention turned to non-league football with the third annual 'Non-league Day' taking place across the country.

As ever, Wealdstone opened their gates to supporters of League clubs who brought their season tickets along for half the regular admission fee. The Stones also let U16's in for free.

In front of a packed Vale, visitors Thurrock took the lead before former Hornet Kurtney Brooks walloped the hosts level with a 25 yard effort on the stroke of half-time.

Brooks then put Stones in front in the second half with a 'feeble effort' which was turned in by the opposing defender.

Gordon Bartlett's side were unable to hold on however and shortly before full-time, Wealdstone were pegged back by Thurrock.

The attendance of 703 is a good 200 up on the club's regular gate - an excellent effort for all those who supported their local non-league club today.

Remember to follow @Wealdstone_FC on Twitter to keep an eye on happenings at The Vale.

On top of that, don't forget to head over to Ruislip if you can't make a Watford game, provided you bring your season ticket, you'll get in for half the regular admission price, which is just £5 for adults!
