Geijo fit to feature against Middlesbrough

Striker Alex Geijo could finally be ready to make his debut for Watford this weekend after Gianfranco Zola revealed that he trained on Friday morning.

The 30 year-old Swiss-born Spaniard has been unavailable for selection due to fitness issues since arriving in August.

It had initially been hoped that the former Granada loanee would be fit to feature after September's international week.

However Zola has now revealed that Geijo, along with Nyron Nosworthy, trained this morning ahead of Saturday's game.

'They both trained with me today and tomorrow I will make a decision on that,' Zola told The Watford Observer.

The Hornet's head coach continued:

'They are not fit to play 90 minutes but they are certainly fit to be involved in the game, so we will see. Tomorrow I will decide.'

There is less encouraging news on John Eustace (back), Prince Buaben (hamstring), Cristian Battocchio (groin), Ikechi Anya and Geoffrey Mujangi Bia (groin), all of whom are still sidelined.

Zola also confirmed that French left-back Jean-Alain Fanchone is fit for selection. The Udinese loanee is yet to make the Hornet's matchday squad since arriving on transfer deadline day.

With Fernando Forestieri suspended, Zola looks likely to make one change for Middlesbrough by re-introducing Matej Vydra up front following injury.
