OFFICIAL: Garner returns to Carlisle on-loan

Striker Joe Garner has returned to former employers Carlisle United on an emergency loan deal until mid-October.

The 24 year-old has returned to Brunton Park, some four years after leaving, despite featuring heavily during the opening games of the new campaign.

Garner will remain with the Cumbrians until October 15 on an initial one-month loan deal.

A former England U19 international, Garner enjoyed one season with Carlisle between 2007 & 2008, scoring 14 goals in just 30 league starts having already notched five in 17 on-loan there the previous season.

The former Blackburn Rovers trainee joined the Hornets from Nottingham Forest on deadline day last summer for a fee believed to be around £200, 000.

Even under the man who signed him, Sean Dyche, Garner never found much favour, making just 16 league starts last season as he played second fiddle to the likes of Marvin Sordell, Chris Iwelumo and Troy Deeney.

His debut season at the Vic' brought just one goal for the club, in the 2-0 win at Millwall on January 31.

With the volume of forwards now at the club, it always seemed likely that the 6'1 hitman would find gametime hard to come by in WD18.

Good luck Joe!

£200k !!!! OMG - did we really pay that for him! For 2 goals I think. That can join the Jamie Moralee and Trevor Senior list of Faux-pas, which must be topped of course by Nathan Ellington, currently "enjoying" life in Ipswich's reserves. Never mind Sean, can't win them all; Good Luck Joe.

A 20st Deeney would be better than any other forward we have...

Forestieri did well by all accounts.
