Deeney to discuss future with Zola

Troy Deeney will discuss his Watford future with boss Gianfranco Zola after being released from prison early.

The Hornet's forward was released from jail yesterday, less than three months into a 10 month sentence after being found guilty of affray.

An official statement released this morning read as follows:

'TROY DEENEY will discuss his Watford career prospects with Head Coach Gianfranco Zola in a meeting scheduled for this week.

The striker, released early under conditions from his prison sentence, will meet with Zola and other senior Hornets` officials.

A further announcement about Deeney`s Watford FC future will be made via watfordfc.com in due course.

Please be advised that there will be no other individual comment from any Watford FC official on the matter at this time.'

Now for my money, the fact that the statement is phrase 'discuss his Watford career prospects with Head Coach Gianfranco Zola' makes it sound more like Zola will discuss with Deeney whether or not he's happy being player number 43 on the squad list.

It certainly seems that this will be more a discussion about whether Deeney has a shot at getting in the team or whether we've moved on without him rather than whether he'll be welcome back at the club.

Time will tell.
