Udinese confirm Battocchio loan deal

Udinese have tonight (Thursday) confirmed the deal which sees Cristian Battocchio move to Watford on a season-long loan deal.

The 20 year-old midfielder tweeted this morning to say that he was heading to Vicarage Road on-loan and tonight the Udinese official site has confirmed the deal.

A statement on the site translates as follows:

'Udinese Calcio also announces that it has sold a temporary sports rights of the Company English footballer Cristian Battocchio Watford FC.'

Battocchio, born in Rosario, Argentina, becomes Gianfranco Zola's 11th summer signing and the eighth player to move between Udine and Watford in a loan agreement.

An Italy U20 cap with dual Italian and Argentinian nationality, Battocchio started his career in his homeland with Newell's Old Boys before moving to Udinese in 2009 where he has made five first-team league appearances to date.

Watford are also expected to complete the loan captures of defenders Gabrielle Angella, Jean-Alain Fanchone and Neuton as well as striker Fernando Forestieri.

With the Transfer Window closing at midnight tomorrow, players could very well be departing the Vic' as Zola looks to trim his squad, so make sure you stick with VitalWatford (@VitalWatford) for all the latest.

The question remains - when will it all end!?

The question remains - when will it all end!? The answer should be TODAY - transfer deadline day - but I'm not so sure with the loan system!!!! If we get to the stage where Zola fields all his new boys together, there'll be a few tongues and brains struggling with names, identification and pronunciation! In 12 months time, an British name in the team could be as rare as at Arsenal!
