Watford set for Argentine midfielder

Watford are set to make their 12th capture of the summer with the signing of Udinese midfielder Cristian Battocchio.

The 20 year-old Argentinian-born midfielder is expected to join the Hornets imminently and has tweeted to confirm his arrival in WD18.

@CrisBatto18 'Si parte per una nuova avventura ! Udine grazie di tutto ... Mi mancherai ! Watford arrivo :D'

Roughly translated as 'It is part of a new adventure! Udinese thanks for everything, I'll miss you! Watford arrival.'

Whether or not that means that the three-cap Italian U20 international is leaving Friuli for good to join the Hornets or not remains to be seen.

Battocchio was born in Argentina and played for Newell's Old Boys, reportedly training with the first team at the tender age of 14 before moving to Italy aged 17.

A creative midfielder, Battocchio looks set to be joined by Udinese left-back Jean-Alain Fanchone, a left-back, in the coming days.

Welcome to Watford Cristian and Jean-Alain.

This is becoming a massive squad! There are 3 teams and more now in the squad; surely some have got to be moved on? And what chance our good Academy boys? I like Adam Thompson, pleased to see he should get some game time at Wycombe.

Indeed. Zola was saying before the most recent influx that there will be players leaving. It's gotta happen soon because there are going to be a lot of very unhappy players around the place!

The issue would only be about the players getting upset if not playing.. The owners pay these players if their here or not.. I would think the Prem is the most inviting league in the world.. Most players round the world dream of it....

When there was a few, in positions that were weak, it made sense. Whilst I'm sure these players are all more than good enough, it is going a little mad now. How does Zola keep them all happy? Does he have a fighting chance of knowing his best side? I think not!
