Zola: 'Better team won'

Zola: 'Better team won'

Watford boss Gianfranco Zola was magnanimous in defeat, admitting that Paul Jewell's Ipswich Town deserved to beat the Hornets tonight.

A 90th minute goal from Michael Chopra at close-range secured the win for the Tractor Boys who ended their 15-match winless streak against Watford in the process.

Speaking afterwords to Sky Sports News, Zola admitted his side didn't deserve three points:

'Absolutely, no doubt about it. It is a fair result and the team who played better today has won the game,' conceded Zola.

'We could have won - that is the story.

'We had a couple of very good chances, maybe three, which we could have scored but honestly, that wouldn't have been fair, so I take it and I will learn from it.'

Watford host Birmingham City on Saturday in the late kick off, live on Sky.

Birmingham match will be very tough Saturday.. We need to play a lot better to get any points... Think we really need to start with more power up front.. Maybe a chance for Leo to start..

Ipswich passed and moved the ball well; much like Zola wants Watford to do; they were more confident at doing that and closed our players down quickly forcing some panic passing and too much mis-placed passing especially in midfield. But up front, the moment Big Chris replaced Garner, we looked so much better; I am not Chris's biggest fan, but he won all the headers coming his way and laid it off well; I'm afraid Joe Garner was busy but totally unproductive. Very impressed with Anya when he came on.
