Reserves defeat West Ham

Watford`s second string got their campaign off to a winning start when defeating West Ham at Bishop`s Stortford.

Technical director Richard Bate took an experienced side to face the Irons, which included the likes of Alec Chamberlain, James Chambers, Malky Mackay, Jordan Stewart and Matthew Spring.

England international goalkeeper Robert Green played for the East Londoners following his £2million move from Norwich City.

Albert Jarrett - a summer signing from Brighton - scored on the stroke of half-time to secure the three points for Watford in their opening match of the Barclays Premiership Reserve League South.

Watford: Chamberlain, Chambers, Mackay, Mariappa, Stewart, Bangura, Diagouraga, Spring, McNamee, Bouazza, Jarrett Subs: Beasant, Gill, Seanla, Grant, Kamara

West Ham: Green; Spector (Fitzgerald 61), Ngala, Tomkins, Widdowson; Ephraim, Collison, Dailly, Reid (Hunt 75); Jeffery (Hales 83), Hines. Subs not used: Blackmore, Stanislas, Sears.
