Iwelumo surplus to requirements?

Veteran forward Chris Iwelumo will be given a free transfer after being told his is surplus to requirements, say Sky Sports News.

The 33 year-old Scot, who signed a two-year deal last summer, featured in this afternoon's clash with Spurs for Lloyd Doyley's testimonial.

And, with loanees Steve Leo Beleck and Matej Vydra still short of match fitness and Alex Geijo's loan arrival yet to be confirmed, it's hard not to question the credibility of the story.

The former Burnley targetman was heavily linked with a move to Bournemouth earlier in the summer, whilst Preston North End were linked with a move for Big Chris during the week.

If Geijo's loan arrival is confirmed by the club, then Iwelumo's departure might follow. For now though, it looks a strange move.

Big Chris is a donkey.. I won't lose sleep over he's free.. If he moved any slower he would grow roots..

He does a job, it's not particularly glamorous. If he ends up somewhere where the ball is put onto his head constantly, he'll thrive.

Great to see a WFC supporter backing a player! As Dyche explained, he was brought in for his experience and he didn't do a bad job. He didn't score that much, but he and the whole team gave 100% effort last season, which is a lot more than can be said for your comments 1881.

Thanks Big Chris - at least you could get the ball, hold it up and play others in; which is more than I could say about Joe Garner. what on earth is he doing still at the club? He is known for spectacularly falling over often and even did it against Spurs on Sunday; 3 times that I can remember. But produce anything worthwhile? Nah. Oh I forgot, 1 goal last season. He should've gone before Big Chris.

He's the worst forward player we've had since Trevor Benjamin.. It tells a story that no Championship team have been linked.. He's league one at the very best...

Agree with Oldyella & Andy on this!

Agree with much of this but lets face it he's more productive than Garner.
