'If It's Football, It's Vital'

OFFICIAL: Watford confirm Sega/SI link-up

Watford have this afternoon announced that Sega & Sports Interactive, makers of the hugely-popular Football Manager series, will become Watford's shirt sponsors this season.

The agreement, which comes about after The Happy Egg Company agreed to become Club Partners as opposed to shirt sponsors as originally agreed, will see Watford sport the 'Football Manager' and 'Football Manager Handheld' logos on their chests this season.

The Managing Director of Sports Interactive, Miles Jacobson, is a Hornet's supporter and the Football Manager series was his brainchild after a split with fellow computer games manufacturer, Eidos.

Speaking to watfordfc.com, CEO Scott Duxbury said of the deal:

'I'm very pleased with the partnership we've agreed with SEGA and Sports Interactive. It really is a perfect fit in many ways.

'Football Manager and SEGA's success in its field is unparalleled. Their global success is in no small part down to their attention to detail and expertise in their area - and that's something the club is delighted to be partnering with.'

Jacobson was equally pleased with the new link-up:

'The Pozzo family have shown at Granada and Udinese that success can be achieved by strong financial management and a dedication to talent development - a strategy which, coincidentally, also pays dividends in Football Manager. We're very much looking forward to achieving great things together.'

All that's left to say as an avid fan of the Football Manager series is, free copies of the new game for all season ticket holders!

Good deal for my money. Real shame for the Happy Egg Co. but at least they're still on board.
