Zola discusses goalkeeping situation

Gianfranco Zola has been busy discussing the club's goalkeeping situation after Watford agreed a fee with Ipswich Town for Scott Loach.

The 24 year-old goalkeeper, who was with Ipswich Town's Academy as a youngster, looks set for a return to Portman Road after continued speculation over the past few Transfer Windows.

Loach is however the club's only senior goalkeeper after Rene Gilmartin's contract expired and Tomasz Kuszczak opted to join Brighton and Hove Albion following the expiry of his loan deal in WD18.

Zola described Loach's return to Suffolk as a 'good move' for the former England U21 goalkeeper:

'It is a possibility. Scott has got this opportunity and so we are considering it.

'We will see. As I said, it is a good opportunity for him. He looks like he is happy and that is an important thing.'

Home-grown prospects Jonathan Bond and Jack Bonham kept goal for the Hornets at Borehamwood yesterday and although Bond made a major error for the Wood to equalise, he did make one superb stop too.

Experienced goalkeepers Manuel Almunia and Carlo Cudicini have subsequently both been linked with free transfers to the Vic', though The Watford Observer report that the Hornets have already say down with Almunia to discuss a move.

Speaking of the potential arrivals, Zola told Sky Sports News that any deal was in the preliminary stages:

"They are certainty good goalkeepers.

"If they come, they will be very good for this club.

"But it is too early to say. We will update you on that."
