Watford set to loan Czech pair

Watford set to loan Czech pair

Watford have signed Daniel Pudil and Matej Vydra on season-long loan deals from Granda & Udinese respectively, according to the players themselves.

Pudil, 26, a Czech Republic international with 22 caps spent last season on-loan from Granada at Serie A side Cesena.

Striker Vydra, 20, is a Czech Republic U21 international who currently plays for Udinese, spending last season on-loan at Club Brugge in Belgium.

The 2011-12 season was a virtual write-off for Vydra, who spent most of the season on the sidelines with injury.

The pair have both confirmed to Czech sources that they will be signing on-loan for the Hornets for the forthcoming season.

'I did not have to think twice [about joining Watford],' Pudil told chovanecsport.cz.

He continued:

'I came here five years ago on trial and loved it.

'I know Watford have excellent fans so when my agent told me about this option a few days ago, I welcomed it.'

Vydra, who has made two first-team appearances for the Zebrette since signing from Banik Ostrava in 2010 said of his move:

'Hopefully I will win a place in the starting line-up. I'm hungry for football after last season was marred by injury.

'I feel fit and the knee is keeping together. I hope myself and Dan will be good assets for Watford.'

Welcome to Watford, Daniel & Matej.

All very well not looking around lower leagues, don't recall you turning your nose up at the signing of Danny Graham. These players have got to start some where. I hope that we do well, but don't start getting above your station and saying we are too good for that kind of player. Because we are not and never will be.

I'm not knocking the way we've done business and will probably continue to, I'm just saying that it's nice to have 'glamorous' names for once.
