UPDATED: Watford pull out of Heaton deal

Watford have pulled out of a deal to sign goalkeeper Tom Heaton on a free transfer.

The former Cardiff City goalkeeper was set to sign for the Goldenboys this week after agreeing a deal with the Hornets.

Despite being aware of the takeover talks when he agreed a deal to become a Hornet, Heaton agreed to sign for the 'Orns.

Sky Sports News yesterday said that the deal has been pulled by the club , leaving Heaton free to negotiate with other clubs.

Speaking to The Watford Observer, Heaton admitted his disappointment at the collapse of the deal:

"The previous owners couldn`t complete the deal due to the takeover which is understandable.

"But I am very disappointed not to be going there after thinking it was done and dusted.

"Sean Dyche and Alec Chamberlain were brilliant but unfortunately the circumstances changed and I will just have to deal with it."

Wasn't entirely sold on him, but a 'keeper definitely needed. Don't know if an Italian kid would be the answer.
