Pozzo confirms Zola as head coach

Giampaolo Pozzo has told Italian news that Gianfranco Zola will be Watford's new head coach.

Furthermore, the club has announced that their offices will be closed as of 2.45pm this afternoon for a staff meeting.

The Watford Observer have revealed that they expect the meeting to be an opportunity for the Pozzo's to address the club's staff for the first time since completing their takeover.

Pozzo said to Sky Italia of the deal:

"The Watford deal was conducted by my son (Gino), who works a lot in London." Said Pozzo.

"We are trying to revive a historic club and to bring it back to the Premier League.

"Zola? We are on the right path and hence, I believe he will be our new coach. We have a verbal agreement.

"The English coaches are different to that of the Italians in terms of managing.

"Before deciding on the coach we needed time.

"My son will be in London as we

Whilst we're all disappointed that after an excellent season Sean Dyche will be losing his job in the near future, it's important to remember that Zola didn't put himself forward to replace Sean and that the only way for the club to progress is to back the new manager.

Welcome to Watford, Gianfranco.
