'If It's Football, It's Vital'

OFFICIAL: 'Deal progressing nicely'

Watford have this evening released an extremely brief statement to the contrary to Laurence Bassini's claims earlier in the day.

The Hornet's owner had said this afternoon that any deal between the Pozzo family and the club was off due to a lack of funding.

However, Watford have released a statement this evening to re-assure supporters that this is not the case and that a deal is expected to be concluded in the near future.

The Watford Observer had earlier this evening said that their sources believed the deal to be ongoing and this has since been officially confirmed.

This latest twist certainly begs a couple of questions - for example, who is releasing this club statements? Clearly not Bassini. And for that matter, what was Bassini hoping to achieve with this afternoon's statement?
