'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Zola linked with Hornet's post

Former West Ham United boss Gianfranco Zola will replace Sean Dyche as Watford manager if the Pozzo family complete their takeover, according to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

Respected Italian journalist Di Marzio, who works for Sky Sports in Italy revealed on his personal website that the former West Ham boss will replace Dyche, if the Pozzo family complete their anticipated takeover.

Another ex-West Ham United figure, Gianluca Nani, is also being lined up as the club's new Director of Football according to Di Marzio.

Fulvio Marrucco, Zola's agent, will arrive in England tonight to discuss the job, according to Di Marzio.

I think if this is true to me it's good news...

REALLY? You're the first person I've heard say so! I think whilst Zola is not a terrible manager, he is very inexperienced, and although Dyche is too, he has proved himself over the duration of his tenure and deserves the chance to prove his worth once more. He knows the club, the players, the fans, and presumably has his ideas in place ahead of the new season. To sacrifice all that for a bigger name would be madness for me.

I think any buyer from abroad would want there man in charge... This guy if he does end up buying the club has real top money.. I've heard in the realm of 2 billion.. Arsenal owner has less... He took the Spanish team to 2 promotions very quickly to the top league... If he does buy wait for a ride... When GZ was West Ham manager they played good passing football... He has more chance of attracting better talent..

It would be a shame to replace Dyche - he has the right philosophy for Watford. V similar to GT and I believe he has the trust of all fans. Can't help but think of the Vialli era and the way it almost destroyed the club. But am I being small minded if there is a chance that the new owners could make WFC a BIG club?

That's certainly their aim from what I've been told and am reading oldyella. They have made a success of Udinese and Granada.
