Hornets Reject Mariappa Bid

Sky Sports News this lunchtime reported that Watford have rejected a 2million bid from newly-promoted Reading for defender Adrian Mariappa.

Mariappa, who came through Watford's academy, was subject to offers from both Wigan and Newcastle in the January transfer window. Since the end of the season there had already been speculation that Reading had made an enquiry for the Hornets stalwart.

Mariappa's performances had caught the eye throughout the season and was voted 'supporters' and 'players' player of the season at Watford's end of season awards dinner last month.

Worth More than 2 Million... Glad the bid was turned down....

Amen to that. Think we should hold about for about 3.5 if he is going to leave.

I was thinking along the same lines... For me anything 4 million plus.. If we are to sell him which is still not a cert we should try to sell quick to give us time to replace.. Before the start of the next season.. Any replacements need a least a couple of pre season matches to get some sort of player knowledge under his belt.. I would guess that the chairman would like some of the money to pay off debts.. So for him a late sell would be ideal..
