Smith pulls out of Ireland squad
Connor Smith has pulled out of Ireland's U19 squad as he is 'too tired', according to manager Paul Doolin.
The Hornet's youngster, who spent the season on-loan at Wealdstone, was called up by the Repbulic for three European Championship 'elite' qualifiers in Portugal.
Success in the elite qualifiers would land the Irish a spot in the tournament proper, in Estonia later this summer.
However, after 22 starts and 10 substitute appearances for Ryman Premier League outfit Wealdstone, Smith has apparently declared himself as too tired to play.
Speaking to The Irish Independent, Doolin said:
'Connor says he's not feeling great and wouldn't be able to go. He's been on loan playing twice per week and seems to feel very tired.
'Of course it's disappointing, but it's probably for the best that he doesn't go. With only 16 outfield players in the squad, we can't carry anyone who isn't 100 per cent up for it.'
