Reading latest to be linked with Mariappa

Centre-back Adrian Mariappa is being linked with a move to newly-promoted Premier League outfit, Reading.

The Harrow-born defender has been heavily linked with a move away from Vicarage Road this summer with Newcastle United and Wigan Athletic showing serious interest in January.

However, according to our good friends at Vital Reading, Mariappa was linked with a move to the Madejski Stadium by The Sun this week.

Twenty five year-old Mariappa of course had a sterling season in the Hornet's backline, securing both the Watford Observer Player of the Season title, as well as the Player's Player of the Season gong to boot.

If nothing else, all this interest should spark a bidding war and drive his price up if he is destined to leave WD18 this summer!

He will leave this summer... He's 25 so more or less in his prime... He may never get the chance to play in the prem again... He'll be out very soon... I think to Southampton or Reading is my hunch....

Heard very good things about him. Cannot usually stand central defender under 6 foot for some reason but Mariappa seems to get away with his lack of height through being a good defender.
